This seminar offers a comprehensive overview of key toxicology concepts relevant to various legal practices, including criminal, personal injury, employment, and general law. This one-hour presentation equips attorneys with the knowledge to address toxicology issues in cases involving substance use, impairment, and drug testing. Topics covered include the relationship between drug levels and impairment, the science behind alcohol-related visible intoxication, challenges in interpreting postmortem drug levels, the potential impairment caused by dietary supplements, and an explanation of the three basic principles of drug testing—screening, confirmation, and reporting.

Dr. Allison Muller is a board-certified toxicologist (D.ABAT), a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (FAACT), an affiliate fellow of the American College of Medical Toxicology (AFACMT), and a registered pharmacist with over 30 years of experience in clinical toxicology. After a nearly 20-year career leading the Poison Control Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, which included consulting on toxicology cases from 21 counties in Pennsylvania and Delaware, Dr. Muller is now an independent consultant specializing in medical communications and providing expert witness testimony in cases involving medications, alcohol, chemicals, and environmental toxins. She is also in her 21st year as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where she teaches pharmacology, toxicology, and professional development to first- and second-year veterinary medicine students.
